NATIONAL SECURITY
Vince Carver left the CIA with a dead friend and a close call.
So much for so-called intelligence work. No longer knowing what he was fighting for, Carver switched to the private sector and swore he’d never go back. Armed with the elite skills of a special operator, he now leads a team of security specialists far from the battlefield.
Everything changes when his convoy is ambushed on American soil.
The three-letter agencies all want a piece of him, and the CIA is front and center. His client, a semiconductor billionaire, may be selling secrets to the Chinese. As his bodyguard, Carver is the asset best placed to uncover the plot, and he begrudgingly commutes to Taipei for one last mission.
Soon he’s embedded in a world of slick intrigue and fast lies.
Carver is pitted against a resident security team led by a beautiful and enigmatic woman, but she’s far from the only one keeping secrets. When foreign agents gun for him, old doubts resurface, and not even the CIA is above suspicion.
Carver rediscovers his drive to fight.
He may be guarding secrets vital to US national security, but he’s a private contractor to the bone. This is Carver’s show, and he knows the key to a timeless truth. When best-laid plans fall by the wayside, nothing can replace the indifferent precision of a man with a gun.
GHOST SOLDIERS
A bomb detonates at a peace rally in Rome.
Nearly killed is a young Russian dissident calling for revolution. Activism makes her a thorn in the Kremlin’s side, but familial ties to a shadowy government oligarch make her a target.
While Interpol hunts the rogue terrorist cell, the CIA focuses on the woman.
If recruited, she can be an asset against an old adversary, but deniability is key. They send Vince Carver, a private security specialist, to join her on a high-profile train tour of Europe’s capital cities.
They’re not the only hard target service going after her.
The Cold War may be over, but Russian unconventional warfare has only grown more sophisticated. Preventing a series of bombings that threaten the security of Europe while babysitting a headstrong girl makes for a dangerous mission. Finding himself on a black op deep behind enemy lines, facing soldiers without uniforms or state affiliation, might just make it Carver’s last.
When soldiers stop wearing uniforms, everyone is a threat.
The Service of Wolves
Vince Carver is persona non grata.
As an asset, he’s difficult to control. As an operator, he has no equal. Carver may be on the outs with the CIA, but the feds recognize a value proposition when they see one. Sooner or later, his services are always in demand.
He gets a shot at redemption when the son of a Mexican congressman is kidnapped by narcos.
A newly hobbled DEA with diminished operational resources needs two things more than ever: a solution, and deniability. With Delta Force experience in hostage rescue and no official government ties, they tap Carver for the mission in Tijuana.
But the cartels are only half the threat.
Working for a politician has its benefits, but uncovering the root of evil in a powerful family is a killer. Carver must take on gun-wielding narcos, militarized special police, and burrow into the depths of an enduring family rivalry.
If you go out with wolves, they’ll teach you to howl.
Project Sundown
Private security was supposed to be easy.
As former special forces in Detachment-Delta, Vince Carver is used to thinking on his feet. But as a front for black-book CIA operations, his firm can be a magnet for trouble. Which might explain the pair of Homeland Security investigators nosing around.
A string of attacks on the power grid brings Carver into contact with a San Jose radical militia.
Only he’s not knocking on their door, they’re knocking on his. He quickly learns of Project Sundown, the idea that, without electricity, society will collapse and bring the federal government to its knees.
Under CIA direction, Carver goes undercover.
Throwing the feds off his scent is easy. The militia proves more challenging. Insider factions, mounting suspicions, and secret projects reveal the existence of a very tangible threat. Without time to spare and surrounded by people he can’t trust, Carver barrels headfirst into a showdown that will change the face of the world.
